Wheeling is the county seat of Ohio County and the commercial center of West Virginia's northern panhandle - a city that punches well above its population because of who keeps their headquarters here. WesBanco, a multi-state bank holding company with roughly 2,200 employees and branches across West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, runs its corporate operation from downtown Wheeling. I have photographed for WesBanco, and the pattern there is the same one I see across the city: people whose work is built on trust, whose face shows up on a bio page or a pitch deck, and who need that photo to look current.
The legal and professional-services side runs deep too. Orrick's Global Operations & Innovation Center occupies an 88,000-square-foot facility here with more than 300 staff, making it the firm's largest office anywhere in the world and putting a serious concentration of finance, marketing, and litigation-support professionals in the Ohio Valley. WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital - a 255-bed acute care hospital founded in 1850, the oldest in West Virginia - anchors the medical community with more than 225 primary care and specialty physicians who need clean headshots for provider directories and referral marketing. Add the broadcast professionals at WTRF 7News, the attorneys clustered around the Ohio County Courthouse, and the independent agents, advisors, and business owners working out of Centre Market and the downtown core, and you have a professional community that runs on exactly the kind of image I make.

The honest thing to say about Wheeling is that it is not a Pittsburgh suburb, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. It is its own city, about an hour down I-70, with its own business community and its own way of doing things. What that means practically is that most Wheeling professionals have gotten used to either driving to Pittsburgh for a decent headshot or settling for whatever they could get locally. Neither is a great option, and both are why I make the drive.
The anti-awkward process was built for people who need a polished, current headshot and do not particularly enjoy being photographed.
